The Oklahoma Engineering Foundation (OEF), in conjunction with the Actuaries of Oklahoma, have teamed together to offer a MATHCOUNTS coaches' stipend. Funding for the stipends comes from the Actuarial Fund for MATHCOUNTS - it is the way Oklahoma's Actuaries can give back to the teachers who ignited their passion for math! 50% of this fund is designated for coaches' stipends, and the other 50% is designated for the MATHCOUNTS competition itself.
Stipends for the 2015-2016 season have been set at $100 each. The number of stipends awarded will depend on the total amount of donation to the Actuarial Fund for MATHCOUNTS as of midnight on December 31, 2015. For example, if $1,000 is donated to the Actuarial Fund for MATHCOUNTS, $500, or 5 teacher stipends will be awarded.
You must be a MATHCOUNTS coach, and have a registered team at an Oklahoma regional competition to be eligible to apply. Additional selection criteria will be based on the answers provided by the coach. The more answers checked in the "Qualifications" section of this form, the more likely the coach will receive the stipend. If all submissions are equal, the coach(es) receiving stipends will be selected by random drawing. Coaches without any answers checked in the "Qualifications" section are still eligible to receive a stipend, and we encourage you to apply! The OEF can also award stipends to coaches who already receive compensation from his or her school!
The deadline for stipend application for the 2015-2016 MATHCOUNTS season is December 31, 2015. If you apply after the deadline, your application will be considered for the next MATHCOUNTS season.
Good luck, and have a great MATHCOUNTS season!
